Shatera Smith is a dedicated community advocate running for Council. With a passion for public service, she aims to bring positive change to the City of Plainfield.
Shatera is running for City Council because Plainfield is more than her hometown—it is where her values were shaped and where her commitment to service began. She was born and raised in Plainfield, attended Plainfield schools, and learned early that strong communities are built when people look out for one another.
With more than 12 years of experience working in municipal government, She understands how local government should function and where it often falls short. Through her work in human resources and public service, She has seen firsthand the importance of transparency, ethical leadership, and sound decision-making in creating effective and responsive government.
Beyond her professional role, she has remained deeply committed to Plainfield through hands-on service supporting youth initiatives, expanding access to essential resources in our schools, and building partnerships that uplift families and neighborhoods.
Shatera is running for City Council to bring good governance, people-centered leadership, and collaborative problem-solving to City Hall.
Plainfield deserves leadership that listens, leads with integrity, and delivers results for every neighborhood, not just during election season, but every day.
Strengthening neighborhoods, supporting the youth, and moving Plainfield forward with integrity and purpose is what Shatera will DO if elected.
